Managing the Unexpected
In 2001 Karl Weick and Kathleen Sutcliffe wrote a ground-breaking book, Managing the Unexpected. Assuring, resilient performance in an age of complexity (revised edition in 2007). In this book they present the results of their study to the methods in which High Reliable Organisations organise themselves and repeatedly succeed in properly managing the unexpected. The key to success lays in the reinforcement of mindful interaction and thinking of employees in the organisation.
